1. NaBloPoMo Fail

    Apple Store on 5th Avenue

So yeah, I totally failed on posting daily this year, but I have a good excuse. New York City is just too much of a draw for me spend time on posting. Between working all day and sleep, I only have so much time to enjoy the city that I never know when I’ll be able to visit again.

Be sure to check out some of my photos on Google+

  4. Dia de Los Muertos

Today is the annual Dia de Los Muerto, the Day of the Dead. It’s a hispanic holiday that’s spread to many cultures all over the world.

It’s a bit of a fun holiday to me, where we revere those who had died. One would think it would be a somber celebration, but in fact, it’s a celebration of life and remembrance of our ancestors.

Family and friends may have passed over the years, but days like today serve to remind that while they may be gone, their memories still live on.

  5. It’s another Year of NaBloPoMo

Well another November is here, so that means another month of my attempts to post every single day…by midnight…with something relevant.

I guess once again, the first posting is a posting saying I’m going to be posting.

    How meta is that.

  6. If you could call any living person for advice today, who would you call?

That’s a hard question for me I think. Most of my idols and mentors are the leader types of the tech industry, and as such, they are very open about how they got started and how they’ve become sucessfull. It’s no real secret and just involves a lot of hard work and a lot of luck.

If I had to choose one person for advice though, I’d have say Pete Cashmore. I truly admire the fact he started Mashable in his bedroom and has grown it to a top tier news organization.

  7. What’s one thing you love that nobody else does?

I’m not sure how it happened, but I have this voratious love and wonder for technology. It goes far beyond the typical love for a new gadget or a new service, but rather my interest lies in the entire ecosystem of technology. I’m always thinking about how the newest gadget will revolutionlize society, how the newest website will change public perceptions of the world, and how the latest innovations can move our soicety even further into the world of science fiction.

Few of my friends come as close to that though. Most people are in the realm of casual and popular interest, which is a fine place to be in. I, on the other hand, strive to be so close to the bleeding edge that I am willing to get cut a lot along the way.

  8. What’s your favorite animal? When was the last time you saw one? Touched one?

There’s something about ducks that have always appealed to me. Ducks are strange creatures. They are capable of flying as well as swimming. They make a distinct ‘quack’ sound common to all ducks. They are generally pretty chill in the face of everything around them. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a duck though (that wasn’t on the dinner table that is).

  9. What’s more important, peace or freedom?

I think the most evident example of peace versus freedom today is the current uproar over the TSA’s overzealous handling of air travel security. The TSA, and our federal government in general, have completely trounced the concept of freedom in the name of security and peace.

My challenge is if we give up all of our liberties and freedoms in the name of peace, what peace have we won? We are merely prisoners of our own government in the same way our government has taken prisoners in the war on “terror”.
